Folks,
Ray Gobbe and I were birding this am at Mason Park – Ray (gnashing of teeth
heard in background) spotted a Wood Sandpiper amongst the Sharpies. After
taking notes and looking at books I believe it to have been a juvenile, with
tertials a bit like PGPLover. It had both a disyllabic and a trisyllabic
high pitched call. Very elegant compared to the Sharpies and Curlew Sands
nearby. There were also over 50 Sharpies, 2 PGPs, 8 Curlew Sands, 2
White-Winged Triller and a Brown Goshawk.
Its now (2pm) very windy and 35C – maybe I’ll pop down to Penrhyn – Phil
Straw saw some Red Knots this a.m.
