The most impressive eye-shine I have experienced was from Saltwater
Crocodiles. Had the privilege of working for a few weeks with Prof. Messel
on his croc surveys. Eye-shine could be picked up half a kilometre away.

My first experience of eye-shine was with a scientist studying possums in
north Qld back in the 1960s. Several people in the party, and I couldn't
understand why everyone saw eye-shine except me. And then someone pointed
out that you must have the spotlight close to your eyes so you are looking
along the beam. :-(

Cheers

Syd
