      What a perfect morning! There was a continual chorus throughout
today's walk up Mayfair Rd, starting with Superb Fairy-wrens, Peaceful
Doves, and Grey Thrush at the house, Reed Warbler, a new song this spring;
RUFOUS SONGLARK, and Goldfinches past the dam and in the paddocks. Flushed a
single whirring Brown Quail. On the hill , White-throated Gerygones, surely
the original "bush canaries", cadencing from both sides of the road, eight
Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos carrying on as they caught the early morning
sun from the branches of a dead tree, with a Sulphur-crested Cockatoo not to
be outdone. Brush and Pallid Cuckoos, Bell Miners, Willie Wagtails and
Restless Flycatcher all giving voice together, with a few shrieks from
Eurasian Coots and from a pair of Masked Plovers swooping on a pair of
Border Collies behind a neighbour's fence. Back at the house the family
canary had finally finished his moult and was in full voice, attracting
Sparrows, Finches and Turtle-doves to the spilt seed, not to mention the
Currawongs, Magpies and Grey Butcherbird, frustrated by the double cage from
reaching the performing  morsel inside.
                                                 Great Stuff.
                                                      Cheers
                                                         Michael
