Hi All,

On Tuesday, the first record for 5 months!

Striated Pardalotes are residents here - recorded (heard or seen) every day on our property since Feb 2002 until 8 Mar 07 when they left, or perhaps just stopped calling. They have also been virtually absent from the local bush as well - no pardalotes were recorded at Murray Goulburn Outings at Killawarra (Warby Range near Wangaratta) on 11/8; at Chiltern on 5/8 and at Youanmite (NE of Benalla) on 8/7.

It has actually been a special week here, with first records for some time of the following:

-residents
Striated Pardalote 5 months
Spotted Pardalote 5 weeks
Weebill, 7 weeks
Red Wattlebird, 2 weeks, recorded on 2 days in last 5 months

-non residents
Brown-headed Honeyeater 4 months
Purple-crowned Lorikeets 9 months

It has really been a very quiet year, very few birds around at all and about half the 'usual' number of species recorded each week.

Hopefully more are on the way.

Barry
