Hi Evryone,
Keith's question "are the Rufous Whistlers which migrate north from the east 
coast, also silent in the winter months" is of interst and based on my 
experience from my travels in northern Australia and in middle west 
Queensland in winter, I would say, yes, they are generally silent.
