I'd recommend the morning trip run by the Mangrove Man, on the Mossman River, great range of habitats on that trip and the guide is very enthusiastic. www.mangroveman.com.au A couple of possibilities are great billed heron and little kingfishers, should get 40+- species in the morning, I got 55 species when I did it a few yers back in August. Mt Lewis is a bit of a drive and the road can be tricky if wet, but a good spot for high altitude ainforest specialists. Kingfisher park at Julatten is a top spot to stay, plenty of birds on the property and good advice about places like Mt Lewis and surrounding areas. There's waders from the esplanade and you should get a good few birds in the Flecker botanical gardens, esp in the rianforest section.

regards,

Chris Ross
