We frequently get them around the pond in our garden in Bulleen, near Doncaster Victoria. They can be rather aggressive to the smaller birds.

Last time I visited Melbourne (end of January 2007), I stayed with my brother on Warrigal Road, Surrey Hills. We were in the backyard when I observed a Grey Currawong fly in and pluck a mini tomato of the bush and fly off with it. Rather odd I thought.

As for this type of discussion about abundance and distribution of these birds and Song Thrushes and whatever else, I know I have said it before but wouldn't it be great if Melbourne had a Garden Bird Survey going, like we have had in Canberra since 1981, so that discussions like this were based on some consistent data.
