Yes, it was a sub-adult Yellow-nosed Albatross - a first for Britain (one
disputed 19th century record, I think). Interestingly what seems to be
another individual of the same species was seen off Norway on 29/06.

The Somerset bird has caused quite a stir over here as it was found and
looked after overnight by non-birders at an animal rescue centre who
released it back to sea, not realising the numbers of people who would have
paid to see it. A decent amount of money could have been raised for the
animal charity concerned (or even better for BirdLife International's Save
the Albatross campaign) - mind you most birders over here are pretty tight,
so probably wouldn't have coughed much up unless they had to...
