Grant and others.

The newline quarry site is directly to the south-east of the airport. Take
the road past the airport entrance east towards Queanbeyan. Once past the
southern end of the airport, and before the road heads up a hill, look on
the right for a turn off into the quarry. You should see a small yellow sign
on a post. The paddock of yellow box woodland to the left of the gate is
where you want to be. You can get through the fence just past the
gate. Remember that it is a grazing lease (we do have permission to bird
there).

The Powerful Owl is seen most days in the Australian National Botanic
Gardens. Walk around the front of the cafe and head north past the offices.
About 100m along the path there are some paperbarks over the path, and the
garden bed is chained off. Look up. Please don't walk on the beds and try to
be as quiet as possible (we've had some problems there recently).

Cheers
Anthony

Everyone,

Where is Newline Quarry????? Heading down to Canberra
tomorrow at midday and would like to visit this spot.
Info on the Powerful Owl roost at the botanic gardens
would also be handy but if this is a secret (for the
birds sake) I understand.

Cheers,
Grant Brosie
