THen it would be BOCCCA - or BOCCA to include just "climate" and get a word that looks like a real one ... only trouble is that there is already a website by that name. It's Italian and my school should definitely be filtering it!! (We will be now)

But seriously for a moment - I think BOCA (whatever that stands for) should be applauded for managing to achieve a name change that won't require the huge expense of updating stationery and signage.

It equates to changing Stone Curlews to Thicknees. Couldn't they put climate change in there too?

At the AGM of BOCA (Bird Observers Club of Australia) in May the membership
voted to change the name of the organisation to Bird Observation &
Conservation Australia and the necessary formalities have now been completed
to enable this change.

The new name of course retains our familiar acronym of BOCA and was put in
place to better reflect BOCA's dual purposes – that of a member based
organisation encouraging and facilitating bird watching and that of an active environmental organisation with special interest in birds and their
habitat.

BOCA will continue to run extensive activities for its members, but we will be using the new name to change the way we present ourselves to the wider community and to seek their support for our conservation and education work.
