Hi Alistair,

My understanding is that Tree Martins are migratory, at least in the Sydney region. A martin seen in March could be on migration north. I have only seen Tree Martins twice, right on the coast, in Sydney, once on Narrabeen Lagoon and once on the Coast Walk between Bundeena and Little Marley Beach. It was about that time of the year and I then assumed they were on migration.

Tree martins are common summer birds to the west of Sydney, around Winsor and Penrith etc.

Bruce Cox.

I have a record from March of Tree Martin at Boat Harbour, near Kurnell in
NSW. I thought I remembered the bird quite vividly and was with other people
at the time, who I recall agreed, but am beginning to wonder whether the
imagination is playing tricks.

Does anyone from the Shire have any views on the likelihood of tree martin
on the cliffs near Boat Harbour? Presumably they're reasonably sedentary.

Cheers,

Alistair
