I don't know about cage birds but I have twice had Diamond Pythons take birds 
from aviaries.  One was a juvenile Pied Currawong, still being hand-fed but 
starting to fly, the other a half-grown Wood Duck.  Both times the python was 
too bulgy to fit through the wire again.
