While some of our newer members think they are connected to owls, most are well 
aware they in Podargidae family and relatives of the nightjars. We teach the 
beak/feet approach to ID and this quickly pushes the Tawny out of the raptors. 
Even the beak, though strong, rarely breaks human skin in captive management 
and their mouse swallowing antics are a common sight to our members.

We take literally hundreds of injured, ill or orphaned Tawnys a year so if you 
are after photos of one (even some albino chicks) let me know. Ciao
