No, I do not know of further details. I do not know the name of the guy who did
the import. I had to do a lot of sneakin' around and asking questions to find
out what I did. The Parks & Wildlife and Forests would be lucky to find them as
there is many sq. Kilometres of rough ground and large eucalypts & pines to
cover. I forgot to mention that the Parks & Wildlife does not want people
trudging off pathways as there are endangered eucalypts, lichens and mosses in
the park.

Terry,

Do you know more details about the escaped Wattlebirds? Has the "guy"
been prosecuted? I do not know if our fauna or environmental laws cover
such situtions, but I am interested to know if they do and if action
has been taken, as this practice is certainly unacceptable.

The last thing we want now is for the birds to breed. Has Parks been
notified of these birds, so that they can be removed? (I am not wishing
to open a debate here, but I bet I will...)

Cheers, from windy North Stradbroke Island where all the migratory
waders seem to have pushed off, but where there are plenty of terns
around (including 5 Lesser Crested yesterday here at the local tide
high "roost" in Dunwich).

Pete Kyne
