Hi everyone

It's always difficult to draw a line that contributors should never cross. True, we don't allow blatant political advertising on this forum, but some threads have been appropriate when attacking or supporting the environmental policies of various governments, both in and out of Australia. How can you debate windfarms (and let's not, for a while!) without discussing government policy - or should that be policies in the plural?

However, I do think Lorne's message today was inappropriate for the forum. Although there was a rather generalised reason given for his appeal, I don't think it is acceptable on any forum, other than paid political broadcasts, to say "vote for X and the Y Party". It's OK to attack a particular POLICY, and let people think for themselves whether that policy might influence their vote.

Can we please drop this thread now?

Thanks
