Haven't seen any postings for a while re the pond heron....Spent Tues and Wed in Darwin.... Walked the Ck off Trower Rd towards Lee Pt on the Wed after a quick look on the Tues...no luck. As mentioned a while back, there has been a lot of rain and there is water all over the place.....quite special really. Had a great time non-tha-less with 17 new birds for young Jack (now 533 on his Oz list), 51 for Karen Blake and Yellow-rumped Mannikin new for me.....
good to see the now split, Silver-backed Butcherbird also.
Thanks especially to Biggles (AKA Darryel Binns) for showing us around Tues arvo....a champion fella.
Great views and photo ops for Rainbow Pitta,
Yellow Wagtail (Leanyer Poo Ponds...abt 20 I estimate),
a single Barn Swallow, dozens of White-winged Black-Terns.
Heaps of other Top End birds and well worth the trip.
Jack especially enjoyed the wild caught Barra and Karen and I ,the Coonawarra Cab Sav and the blue steaks....
along with the fantastic hospitality.
Cheers,
Bill and Jack Moorhead
Bundaberg
