On friday Ivan (not his real name), Alistair and myself went looking for the
wandering tattler as reported by others at Kurnell. After a few delays in
meeting up we were rewarded with great views of the tattler loafing on the
rocks. Other waders included red-neck stint (20+), ruddy turnstone (5-10),
double banded plover (8), red capped dotterel (1), golden plover (20+) and
sooty oystercatcher (12). Several of the golden plovers were coming into
breeding colours and one of the stints had a pink neck.
We also saw several shearwaters out to sea and a gull, probably kelp on a
nearby rocky island.
Identification of the tattler was made easy by the fact that the bird was very
vocal, I managed to get some video of the bird including having it call, when I
later reviewed what I had recorded I found I could hear the bird long before I
saw it (but didn't know it at the time).
Cheers
