Leech-proof socks

I've always used soap for domestic leeches, just rub a cake of dry soap over the legs or where ever I think they might be a problem.

Has anyone tried this for Asian leeches or are they immune to such stuff?

Marj and I are heading off to peninsular Malaysia for some birding (Taman
Negara, Fraser's Hill, Kuala Selangor). We would like to buy some
leech-proof socks before departure. Can anyone advise where to purchase them
in Australia? Alternatively, can they be bought at Taman Negara?
