Here in Orange the honeyeaters are beginning to follow their annual
migration flights. The numbers are not as abundant as the numbers reported
each year from the Blue Mountains.
>From previous years the honeyeaters are moving about three weeks earlier.
Our deciduous trees are also beginning to change colour – again earlier than
usual.
Is this apparent early Autumn a result of the drought? I thought that
perhaps stress to the trees may have resulted in the earlier leaf changes
but perhaps winter is going to be a little earlier this year. Last year’s
winter was very dry and fairly mild in temperature. I wonder what this
year’s winter will be like.
