Hi Cheryl,
My name's Katrina and I'm one of the Rangers that looks after Woodlands
Historic Park. Wendy Moore sent your email to me hoping that I may be
able to shed some light on your query - which I can.
The burnt area which you are referring to was in fact the result of a
wildfire, deliberately lit albeit, on Tues 16th Jan. Due to the lack of
rain the area really has not had any regeneration as yet. Luckily the
areas involved were primarily amongst the Grey Box, which often has
minimal ground cover. Combine that with the significant help of
air-attack, and we were able to pull the fire up before it got too far
into the Back Paddock.
Always great to hear of bird watchers visiting and enjoying the Park!
Wendy please feel free to post my response to Cheryl's query if you so
desire.
Kind regards,
Katrina
