Most birding-aus readers may know already but http://maps.google.com.au/
can be useful.  It takes lat-long, so for example if you GPS'ed a Night Parrot
sighting at S25 15' 13" E138 34' 23" you can type this in the search
field and look at maps and/or satellite imagery of the area.
You can also pass these on to others via a URL:

http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=S25+15%27+13%22+E138+34%27+23%22&ie=UTF8&z=12&ll=-25.253611,138.573056&spn=0.226673,0.429153&t=k&om=1
