G'day all 1. There are only about 600 Brolgas in sw Victoria. 2. At this time of year they form into 3-4 largish flocks with a few smaller groups scattered across the region. 3. Normally they feed on aquatic plants and animals and on spilt grain in cereal stubbles. 4. There is very little suitable wetland habitat at present. 5. Grain crops mostly failed due to drought and there is virtually no spilt grain. Is there a case for providing grain to these flocks to keep them in reasonable condition for the 2007 breeding season?
