Hi all,

Graeme Hamilton, CEO of Birds Australia, has asked me to pass on this post:

I?ve watched the unfolding BOCA/BA postings with
interest. I would normally leave things to run
their course feeling it is healthy for people to
let off steam. However, this seems a good
opportunity to write a few words about the relationship between BA and BOCA.

The MoU between our organisations is more than
just a bit of neat paperwork in that it reflects
a genuine desire by both of us to operate
independently and with respect, but to cooperate
where our interests overlap ? not least of which
would be considerable joint membership. BA?s
Council is delighted with the progress we are
making. I have an excellent working relationship
with my counterpart Richard Hunter and am made
very welcome by BOCA staff and Board whenever I
visit. I was pleased to be able to address the
recent BOCA forum in Wagga, and a meeting of
MelBOCA, and with the friendly and positive reception I received.

BA and BOCA staff meet regularly to share
information and to specifically discuss
collaboration in conservation, education and data
management. I know both sides are benefiting from
this joint effort. At the BA Regional Group or
BOCA Branch level I encourage similar collaboration.

In my opinion the closer working relationship
between BOCA and BA is better for the birds and
better for our organisations. Long may it continue.
