We are going to Kenya for a couple of weeks (lucky us!!) and we need to get
a field guide.

Any suggestions??? Which guide? Where from?

Fortunately, there are two very good guides to the area:

"Birds of Kenya and Northern Tanzania" by Zimmerman, Turner and Pearson.
"Field Guide to the Birds of East Africa" by Stevenson and Fanshawe.

Zimmerman may be a closer match to where you're traveling but I'd say
I'd slightly prefer Stevenson. Given the cost of the books relative to
the cost of a trip to Kenya, consider getting both books before you go
and then decide which you like better.

Another title to get is "The Safari Companion, A guide to Watching
African Mammals" by RIchard D. Estes. It's not an identification
guide, it's a behavior guide. It's quite detailed and gives you a
better understanding of what you're seeing.

All of these titles are stocked by Andrew Isles.
