Lovely to hear that some one else has an appreciation of spiders, mind
you I don't know a great deal about them either, yet. And I haven't seen
a Golden Orb spider for ages. Spiders like everything else in nature are
important. The only problem I have is with Indian Mynahs. Oh, the
Ravens of Buttaba are back. Yippee!!

G'day,
We have an unlined patio roof with many Black House Spiders building
webs
where the battons and joists meet. These webs are useful for nest
building
birds but the real action occurs on hot days. The spiders are driven out
of
their web funnels onto the flat part of the web or sometimes even leave
the
web altogether. Then the birds have a field day!
Just for the record I really like spiders but know less about them than
many
animal groups. Would love to rediscover the Catterpillar-dropping Spider
found by one of my students; it seems to be unknown to science.
Regards,
Alan
