Spiders

G'day,
We have an unlined patio roof with many Black House Spiders building webs where the battons and joists meet. These webs are useful for nest building birds but the real action occurs on hot days. The spiders are driven out of their web funnels onto the flat part of the web or sometimes even leave the web altogether. Then the birds have a field day!

Just for the record I really like spiders but know less about them than many animal groups. Would love to rediscover the Catterpillar-dropping Spider found by one of my students; it seems to be unknown to science.
Regards,
Alan
