WIRES in NSW quite regularly rescues and either euthanase or rehabilitate
Powerful Owls in the Sydney Basin including the CBD. We usually get a couple a
year but these are mainly picked up adjacent to large bushland areas - I picked
up one myself in a suburban area near Forestville still holding the body of a
Ringtail in the one unbroken leg. We also get reports of their presence in
various areas which we sometimes follow up and confirm. There has also been
frequent anecdotal reports of Powerful Owls taking domestic cats - particularly
around Southern Sydney.
