A quick thanks to those who responded to my RFI on Thursday Island.

TI was pretty much as you suggested :-).

Incredibly hot and being a Saturday my 180 fellow cruise ship travelers
and I were somewhat surprised to find only two shops open.
However Australia's Top pub was open, which softened the disappointment a
bit.

It reminded me of Fiji in the 60's.

I did manage to see a lone Torres Strait Pigeon (Pied Imperial) fly over the
ship
just as we set sail into a glorious sunset, which was rather special,
appropriate and a new bird for me.

Sunset photo , not the bird. http://www.timothyhyde.typepad.com/

I'm home at the moment, but fly back to Cairns tomorrow where I re board the

Silver Cloud and we are heading up to Alotau in Milne Bay PNG, so will get
another crack at some interesting sights.
