Just heard that the Victorian State Government has decided not to
place a toxic waste dump at the Norwingi site near Hattah. This is
great news for the Mallee Emu-wrens, Striated Grasswrens,
Malleefowl and all the other endangered fauna which would have been
placed in further danger had the plan gone ahead. Congrats to all
who protested and wrote letters of disapproval. The proprietors of
the Hattah General Store placed many signs in their carpark and
sold bumper stickers etc. All their hard work has paid off.
