Lake Victoria water levels are the lowest that I have observed in my 8 years of
observations there.
Interesting observations are Whiskered Terns that I had only observed there
three times before (Jan & February) appear to have been there permanently over
November & December. Whiskered terns also common in
Only very low numbers of small waders have been present during November and
December and I never recorded any Curlew Sandpipers. It is very unusual in
these parts to see sharp-tailed Sandpipers & Red-necked Stints, without Curlews
also being present.
At dusk on the 28/12 there were 4 Hooded Plovers with the red-caps about 1/2
way along to the Golf Course from the car park. Three adults and one immature.
They were not there on the morning of the 31/12.
