Early this morning we went to the Central Coast and were pleased to see
the Little Terns at The Entrance. There appeared to be several pairs
incubating and using the nesting area. Unfortunately the nesting area is
no longer fenced, and the birds are constantly harrassed by walkers and
fishermen with DOGS. These poor birds work so hard at breeding, and I
am afraid that they will meet with zero success. After The Entrance we
went to the Tuggerah STW, and were greeted by an amazing bird party, all
flying in to a leafless bush in front of us.
The participants -- Superb, Variegated and Southern Emu Wrens, all in
the same bush together. Silvereyes, Red Browed Finches, Grey Fantails,
Willie Wagtail, Yellow and Brown Thornbill, Clamorous Reed Warbler,
White Browed Scrubwren, Yellow Faced, Lewins, New Holland and White
Cheeked Honeyeaters. 15 species in all at the Party, and also a Swamp
Harrier flying overhead.
