Hi all
all the best for a good year of birding in 2007. I like Bob's note of the
good and bad from '06 -
I've just totted up my 2006 list - 330 species in Aus and about 50 in NZ
froma trip in January. Top Aussie moments were the 5 lifers, particularly
getting 3 that I have chased more than a few times - King Quail, Superb
Parrot and Crimson Chat. However, my top moment was seeing Elegant Parrot
in SA - when I had 6 sitting on a fence wire at Port Gawler about 10 metres
away - what a great view. Low light was the 05/06 crop of 2 Tawny Frogmouth
chicks from my district ending up as road kill.
2007 has already kicked off with 10 species seen from the bedroom window
this morning and I can hear the dulcet tones of a Channel Billed Cuckoo and
a Koel as I type.
Cheers
Tom Wilson
