Hi everyone

Following on the kind words from Hugo and Alan, I clicked on the wrong
button and sent a spam message to the list instead of into the discard
bin! Sorry about that ... the web interface for Birding-Aus gets rid of
all unwanted messages as long as the human operators are up to the task!

Many of you will be heading off to a well-earned birding break, or some
type of holiday so I might just take this opportunity to thank all
contributors for their generosity, willingness to share ideas, and overall
helpfulness. Thanks especially to Bill Stent who helps moderate this list.

Thank you all for your enthusiasm for birds and our environment - an
environment that is very much under threat in a lot of places at the
moment, whether through development, storm or fire. I have a few friends
who are facing a very worrying summer here in Victoria, and my thoughts go
out to anyone in the birding-aus community whose property or family are
under threat from bushfires. Let's hope the summer passes without
incident for you - and for our wildlife in these threatened areas.

If you are going to be away or offline for a while, rather than
unsubscribing you can turn your mail off by going to
http://lists.vicnet.net.au/mailman/listinfo/birding-aus and logging in
with your email address and password. Drop me a line if you need a hand.

After this week I hope to be out amongst the birds somewhere around
Geelong or the surf coast so it would be great to meet up with any
birding-aus readers. Have a safe and happy Christmas and good luck for a
bigger yearlist in 2007!
