Today (10th December 2006), I had another good morning a Prospect
Reservoir (approx 40km west of Sydney CBD). Around an open grassy
section beside the Reservoir, I flushed a juv. Spotted Harrier twice
(the first time only within a few metres in front of me) which is the
first time I have seen one at Prospect Reservoir (but not unexpected). I
have seen juv. Spotted Harriers in Sydney now 3 weekends in a row in 2
different locations.

Other interesting sightings at Prospect Reservoir this morning included
the usual adult pair of Grey Goshawks (no signs of any of the young on
the nest which if survived would have fledged by now but the adults were
still quite territorial and hanging about their nesting area as I have
always found them over the past 3 years), 50 Great Crested Grebes, one
of the adult White-bellied Sea-eagles, 2 Black-fronted Dotterels, a
Latham's Snipe, 2 Bar-shouldered Doves, Fan-tailed and Horsfield's
Bronze-cuckoo, a Tawny Frogmouth (disturbed by the Noisy Miners), a male
Crested Shrike-tit, Restless Flycacther, White-throated Gerygones,
Olive-backed Orioles, Mistletoebirds, Striated Pardalotes, a number of
New Holland Honeyeaters and plenty of Scarlet Honeyeaters feeding on
flowering mistletoes.

There was also one Black (Swamp) Wallaby and several Eastern Grey
