I can't suggest where to get titles in Sydney, but can highly
recommend "Birds of Chile" (2003) by Alvaro Jaramillo. It should serve
you well in the southern parts of Argentina, too. Tito Narosky's
"Birds of Argentina & Uruguay" is pretty disappointing and hard to
find outside of the region. It seems to be inexpensive and available
in Argentina.

There are a few more notes regarding books at the bottom of a related
trip report on the Falklands:

Have a great trip!
