Evan,
Snapper Island is very close to the mainland so not much potential for
Tropicbirds or Boobies. Walking on the island is limited. The camp ground is on
the western end and there is some rainforest surrounding it. I was over there a
couple of months ago and I heard a noisy pitta but I didn't get to see it.

I would say birding on Snapper is limited (only my opinion). If you have the
use of a boat while you are there (as opposed to being dropped off) a trip
around the island is worthy. Most of the island is highish cliffs but there is
a good smattering of different forest types.

The most obvious bird will be the Pied Imperial Pigeon, flying to and from Low
Isles to the south east. Actually Low is probably a better birding option,
keeping in mind sections are closed for the PIP breeding season.

I will try to locate my latest sightings list and send to you.

Cheers

Peter
