 At this time of the year foxes are taking the young out and around.. The young 
have a short sharp yip and the female usually has a yap that sounds more of a 
soft yap and at the same time sounds a bit like a cough in the throat. Not at 
all like the bark at mating time. I hear them around the house paddock 
regularly at this time of year.   Warren T
