Folks,

Counts from this morning (SE strong breeze):

Pacific Golden Plover 6 (4 yesterday, 2 day before)
Red-Necked Stint 13 (1 orange tagged right tibia)
Red-Capped Plover 4
Grey Plover Nil (not seen since Sunday - seemed to go with the
westerlies)
Sharpies Nil
Curlew Sandpiper Nil (not seen since Friday last week)
Red Knot 2 (1 non-breeding, 1 intermediate)
Bar-Tailed Godwit 35
Crested Tern 41 (6 adults (2 mating) remainder juvenile)
White-Fronted Tern 1 (always seen with Crested Terns)
Other Terns Nil
Silver Gull 70+

The PGPs all together allowed for good comparisons. There is much individual
plumage variation, with one bird having an almost Gey Plover neck pattern,
another with a distinct solid golden streak from forehead half way into the
crown. Some are much more golden spangled, others much greyer. Primary
projection beyond tail varied from 0 to 3 primary tips. Tertials due to moult
differences likewise varied from ending at the tail end to exposing 5 primary
tips. They were all located on or close to the oyster bed (along with 7
RNStint).

Yesterday, was out west at Pitt Town Lagoon and Cornwallis Rd areas. The water
levels of the various lagoons were high. Pitt Town looks as if it will be good
in a few weeks as the water levels fall. Not much of real note anywhere.

Cheers,

Graham
