Melbourne birders (and visitors) may be interested in the following recent
sightings at this near-city wetland park in the shadow of the Westgate
Bridge:
* Peregrine Falcon (pair) - nesting/roosting on the second bridge
pylon back from the river (the pylon with the metal platforms attached to
it).
* Baillon's Crake - present for at least 2 weeks in the small pond on
the western side of the park (seen from the concrete bridge).
* Australian Shoveler (several).
* Horsfield's Bronze-Cuckoo (pair) - present for several weeks.
* Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater (pair) - ? resident.
I also had quite close encounters with 2 separate Tiger Snakes sunning
themselves 2 days ago.
