Hi there birders,

The debate over windfarms seems to have "blown over" for a while. Is everyone out of puff???

An interesting variation on this theme is the concept of "windcrofting". If every farm in the UK "planted" just one small wind turbine generating electricity, they could supply 50% of the power needs of the UK.

From a birding perspective, I wonder what impact these much smaller turbines would have on the bird life. I seems to me that, because of their much smaller size (15 metres)the local birds would be more aware of their presence and so theoretically there would be fewer deaths. The other side of the argument would say that there would be more deaths because there would be many more of them everywhere. Just a thought.
