Antarctic Tern at Cape du Couedic

Hi All,
        A single Antarctic Tern was seen yesterday on rocks adjacent to the
lookout platforms at Cape du Couedic, KI, yesterday morning. It was observed
for at least 20 minutes before it departed, probably disturbed by a rising
tide and rising wind and seas ahead of a south-westerly cold front.
A large number of Terns can be seen in the distance on Casuarina Island,
mostly Crested Terns, but many White-fronted Terns among them.
A suggestion is that the birds are more likely to rest on the mainland in a
north-easterly wind which should occur again late this weekend and early
next week.
