i tend to think your right about teh bowerbird, and i have no idea about the
cuckoo, lets see what the others say!

I reckon the first one was a Pallid Cuckoo and the second was a
female/immature Satin Bowerbird.

Shining Bronze-Cuckoos are exquisite creatures in the hand - glad
your's survived.
