Peggy & Hartley Mitchell saw a White-headed Pigeon in their garden in Mt
Eliza this afternoon. This is SE of Melbourne and as such represents another
extension of the range of this species in Victoria. Most previous
'Melbourne' district records, and there are only a few, have been in the
hills to the NE. Twenty years ago White-headed Pigeon was unknown in
Victoria. Now it is regular in Gippsland and possibly resident at
Mallacoota.
