Was glad to hear a White-throated Warbler (Gerygone) on 23rd this month,
again after several months of silence. Last year they sang throughout
the winter but not this year. Also the Shining-bronze Cuckoos are vocal
again, from 12th, and a Fantail Cuckoo was calling yesterday.
The mulberry tree is quickly coming into leaf and fruit - today
Figbirds, Satin Bowerbirds and King Parrots were sampling the tiny green
fruits, the Kings mainly dropping what they picked. I'd noticed over the
past week that flocks of 6 to 20 Kings had taken to visiting the garden
late afternoon and checking out the mulberry, drinking in the bird bath
and making an awful lot of noise.
The female Flame Robin seen on 10 and 11 Sept hasn't returned, and the
Golden Whistlers appear to have left. The warmer weather has changed
the whole atmosphere and sound of the area and plants/trees are shooting
fast. No sound of Koels or Channel Bill Cuckoos yet.
