Another National Tree Day (30 July 2006) observation along Melbourne's
Yarra River.

While cycling home from plant purchasing at the Victorian Indigenous
Nursery Co-operative (VINC) at Yarra Bend, we picked up an Azure
Kingfisher foraging along the Yarra River just north of the Bridge Rd.
bridge in Richmond.

This is the first time we've observed the species in 20 years of living in
Richmond. The nearest records of Azure Kingfisher are further upstream in
the Yarra Bend park area.

Great to see this wonderful little bird so close to inner Melbourne.
