Bamaga June 22-24

A good trip, albeit very windy.
Pied Heron 1 Seisia Sewage Ponds, Lesser Frigatebird 3 over Little Woody Is., Australian Bustard 2 at Jackey-Jackey airstrip, Beach Thick-knee 2 at Pajinka, Palm Cockatoo 7 over near Umagico one morning, Chestnut-breasted Cuckoo 1 Lockerbie Scrub Jun 23, Marbled Frogmouth 2 heard, Yellow-billed Kingfisher 1,
Noisy Pitta heard, Frill-necked Monarch two sightings of 3 birds,
White-faced Robin 1, Northern Scrub-Robin 1, Mangrove Golden Whistler 1 Little Woody Is., Tropical Scrubwren Lockerbie and Pajinka, Yellow-legged Flycatcher 3, White-streaked Honeyeater 2, Tawny- breasted Honeyeater, Black-backed Butcherbird, Magnificent Riflebird a male doing full display June 22 was unexpected, Trumpet Manucode several, Pale White-eye 6 Little Woody Is with a Yellow White-eye amongst them, the second time i have seen this species here, something of a range extension.

Tropical Scrubwren looks, sounds and behaves nothing like Large- billed Scrubwren, an anticipated lumping seems premature...... Northern Scrub-robin also behaves and sounds quite unlike the New Guinea birds, would be interesting to get some analyses of this one too.

Good birding
