Albatross Taxonomy
There is a good recent review by Michael Double for Agreement on
Conservation of Albatross and Petrels.
It is in the Brazil June 2006 meeting papers which incl M Double's

This paper gives a reasoned discussion of the complexities, one that I
find to be understandable and appreciative of the alternate view points.
There is still some major new morphometric, ecological and
distributional data to be published soon which I feel tips the balance
towards the 24 taxa scheme (in my view). We do need a decent set of
photographs of known provenance birds to sort the Antipodean and
Gibson's (D. antipodensis and D gibsoni verses D. a. antipodensis vs D
a. gibsoni). Without these data, the discussion seems premature.
