Hi All,

Last weekend I had a family outing to the Great Ocean Road. Lots of
sightseeing and I could only hope for a few good species with Rufous
Bristelbird at the top of the list. They were not hard to find after all. 1
crossing the paved walkway at the 12 Apostles and 2 birds crossing my path
at Loch Ard but only the third bird I had a good look at through my bins.
Other interesting sighting for me were about 7 Gang-gang Cockatoos at
Triplet falls not far from the Fly. Also good was a pair of Peregrine
Falcons at the 12 Apostles with one of them catching a sparrow at dazzling
speed. Magnificient! Most intriguing after checking Birdata I found the
White-necked Heron at Lake Costin - Glenaire. What's the status of this bird
in this area? I could only find two dots at Cape Otway. Is this an uncommon
bird? Is saw also some Albatrosses at sea but were not able to identify them
at such distance (possibly Wandering and Black-browed).

Anyway thanks for giving me information on birding along the GOR.

Cheers, Albert
