When in doubt on ranges refer to the old Pizzey (& Doyle).
The old Pizzey states:
"... from Cape York Pen. Q south to Clarence River and Woolgoolga,
NSW...... and inland to about Bourke, Walgett".
He notes this race as palliceps extends to northern NSW (as above)
and starts around Longreach - Richmond, Qld.
Best wishes

This is very interesting, and it is notable that despite a reputable
reference text (Morris, McGill & Holmes 1981"Handlist of Birds in
NSW" as
below), Pizzey and Knight and Simpson and Day have PHRs extending
only to
the Qld border with no extension into NSW inland, and Slater has a map
showing (incorrectly) that Easterns and PHRs intergrade extensively
into SE
Qld, again with no inland southern extension into NSW.
What does the map in Morecomb show?

Hi Birders,
John Leonard raised the question about PH Rosella distribution in NSW,
The distribution remains as previously stated(Morris, McGill &
Holmes 1981
"Handlist of Birds IN NSW")
"Moderately common. Resident. Eggs Sep-Dec.
Northern Rivers and Tablelands, North-west Slope and Plain, Central
West
Plain and Upper Western.
South to Tweed River, lower Mole River,Inverell, Gunnedah, Pilliga,
Walgett
and Bourke; West to Warrego River. Irregular visitor south to Richmond
River
and Warrumbungle Range.
During my trip to Burren Junction on 29/6/06 we saw a pair near the
wheat
silos and earlier in the month with Alan McBride, saw a pair at
Ashford,
north of Inverell. They are moderately common around Moree. Eastern
Rosellas
are however quite common around Narrabri and Warialda, and across to
Inverell and up to the Queensland border.
