Hi all

Three Sacred Kingfishers [not just one] were seen over wintering in Southern
Victoria yesterday.

Starting on our Penboc [Peninsula Branch of the Bird Observers Club] outing at
Hastings waterfront, in front of the Pelican Cafe, yesterday our group was
overcome with disbelief. Three kingfishers were seen on the mast of a boat on
the mud flat at low tide only a few metres away from us and we were able to
watch them taking turns flying down to the mud to feed then return to their
perch.

Whilst we occasionally see them on the Mornington Peninsula over summer we
don't see them groups. Have these birds grouped together intending to fly back
north and then changed their minds?

Regards
Val
